Tripp – I use the same brand Dave uses. He’s the one who got me hooked on this stuff. It’s called Barlean’s and it’s in liquid form. I have the Omega Swirl and it’s Lemon flavored. It tastes really good too. I love this stuff. I take 6 tablespoons a day. I came up with that “dosage” because it equaled a certain amount of grams, but unfortunately I don’t remember what that was now.

If anyone wants to know how their fish oil stacks up against the competition please check out this website.
This is testing facility for fish oils. It test things like quality and purity of the oils. See if you brand is listed and if it is not write the company and see if they will get theirs tested. I suggest finding a brand on that website and trying it since you know that it has been tested and contains only the best fish oils.
Once you are under the consumer reports click any of the brands listed. It will give you lot numbers and expiration dates as well and product information.
Good luck with your fish oil experiments.

Our general recommendation for fish oil (based on Dr. Sears’ recommendation) is to take 3-5 grams/day specifically of EPA (a particular omega-3) for “athletes”, ie CrossFitters. Ashley’s 6 tablespoons of Barlean’s liquid fish oil puts her about 5g/day of EPA. I take the Barlean’s because it tastes good and I can’t take pills very well, let alone 20 capsules a day. I have done the “freeze” test on Barlean’s and it did not freeze solid, indicating its relatively high quality.
“Freeze Test” — break open a couple of your fish oil capsules and put the inner liquid in a paper cup in the freezer for one hour. If after an hour you can still push a toothpick through it, the quality is relatively high. If it’s frozen solid then you likely have a bunch of leftover fish parts

I would just like to comment that the video looked like the lamest pool party ever… all dudes (unless that is your thing, then I guess its cool)
I’m with Lindsay on this WOD. While I feel my Cardio is pretty good, I came in at 282 RX. In my head I’m in better shape than that, but the double-unders kill me. I was hoping for more like 350 reps, but we did go really heavy 2 days in a row… yeah I’ll blame it on that!

I’ve been taking Dr Sears Eico Rx liquid fish oil for a couple years. I just realized that I’ve taking 5 grams total, not 5 grams of EPA (oops). This brand has 1800mg of EPA per teaspoon. Rather than one or sometimes two teaspoons daily, I should be taking three.
Dr Sears stuff is pricey and it always freezes in the freezer. I have to let the bottle thaw out for about 15 mins before taking it. 8 oz is around $72. I found Barlean’s for under $22 for the same amount at the Vitamin Shoppee.
Dave & Ashley, where do you get yours from? How much?
I scored 262 on the WOD, my quads were smoked.

So today I showed up even knowing burpees were on the agenda. I tossed around doing endurance, but that was gonna suck too and I did tell myself to do more burpees. I think I should get bonus points for that.
Anywho – many things I suck at were included in today’s WOD. I did parallettes (sp?) instead of double unders. I can sense March’s goals will have something to do with double unders (!!!!). I came away with a mind blowing 199. Hey, given the amount of terribleness, I am pretty happy with that.
On a happier note – I totally did a handstand from the standing position today while getting ready for work. What an awesome way to start my day!
Finally – Landy is awesome.

Hats off to Patrick…459?! I did 4 rounds and only did 420ish…you sir are ridiculous had to sub air squats for burpees because of my back…can’t say the row was fun, had trouble bending over and putting my feet in the harnesses.
Also did “Air Fran” tonight…21/15/9 40# KB thrusters/pushups 2.4? great workout to do before jumping in the shower

did a different wod this morning b/c of training. planned on doing a second wod before the endurance wod, but didn’t make it to the gym in time. (i’m so time challenged.) after the endurance wod i worked on chest to bar pull-ups, double unders, and ring dips, and burpees.
AMRAP 10 min
3 front squats 95#
3 push press/jerk 95#
6 burpees
9 rounds – had 3 burpees to go and it would have been 10 roundsendurance wod
run 700 meters x 3 (goal was to keep time consistent)
(1) 2:39
(2) 2:39
(3) 2:49i was able to keep my time consistent for the first 2 rounds. on round 3 i hit a wall about 30 meters in. woo.

Sabah, not sure how else to get at you, so just wanted to point out that this issue of Nature Chemical Biology was written for you. Plus they have a new layout, which is shiny and good. http://www.nature.com/nchembio/index.html
OK, now for something CrossFitty so I don’t seem like the weird guy… This week I started eating 6 grams of fish oil (plus 3 grams of flax oil) a day among a couple other supplements and can already tell major a difference in recovery.
