Event Name: OLYMPIC LIFTING SEMINAR W/CALEB WARD
Event Date:  Saturday, February 18, 9am-4pm
Join renowned Olympic Weightlifter, Caleb Ward, for a day-long seminar guaranteed to make you better at your lifts.  With proper technique Olympic lifting helps build explosive power and teaches athletes how to accelerate or receive a load whether it’s an object or another person.  The movements of the Olympic lifts are common to many sports and performing these movements efficiently through proper technique increases an athlete’s ability to improve both performance and avoid injury.

This seminar will cover demonstrations, teaching progressions, and fault correction for the Snatch, the Clean, and the Jerk.  There will be plenty of hands on time on the bar, as well as a Q&A Session with Caleb at the end of the day.

Class size is limited to allow for lots of personal attention.

Event Name: MOVNAT NATURAL MOVEMENT & BEGINNER PARKOUR COURSE
Event Date:  Sunday, March 11, 9am-4pm
CrossFit Durham hosts MovNat Master Instructor Clifton Harski for a one day MovNat fundamentals course.  This 7 hours initiation course will introduce you to the basics that will allow you to get started with your own MovNat training:

  • The MovNat approach of natural movement.
  • Efficiency principles and perception drills.
  • Essential techniques and movement variations in walking, running, jumping, balancing, crawling, climbing,
  • lifting, carrying, throwing and catching.
  • Combo training and implementation of MovNat

Event Name: ADVANCED OLYMPIC LIFTING SEMINAR W/WILKES WEIGHTLIFTING
Event Date:  Sunday, March 18, 9am-3pm
This seminar will be taught by Coach Chris Wilkes of CrossFit Chesapeake and Team OBX of USA Weightlifting and his sons Coard, Cody, and Caine, all competitive, national level Olympic Weightlifters. This is an advanced seminar for athletes who are already familiar with the basics of the Snatch and Clean & Jerk.

Participants will work in small groups throughout the day with the Coaches to improve performance in all lifts.  Be prepared to lift heavy and go for PR’s.

Event Name: CROSSFIT POWERLIFTING TRAINER COURSE W/LAURA PHELPS
Event Date:  Saturday/Sunday, April 28/29, 9am-5pm
Learn how to develop special strength from explosive strength, speed strength, strength speed, and what velocities they are trained at.  How to use the power lifts through proper technique and the correct selection of special exercises to enhance the CrossFit athlete.  Increase your Olympic lifts by special means and accommodating resistance.

Be educated in the Westside Barbell Conjugate system of revolving large and small exercises, as well as proper loading of volume and how to change the intensity zones in a one week max effort revolving system, and why a three-week pendulum wave loading to develop a special strength is used from explosive strength, speed strength, strength speed as well as circa-max wave and how to use delayed transformation phase leading into your CrossFit training as well as for the classical lifts and running events.

Learn to box squat properly, how to box jump, use ropes, chains, Indian clubs, and sled work for super conditioning by the top power lifters in the World, including Laura Phelps.
